How it is calculated

Reduction in heat loss = ( Current U-value (W/m²K) − Improved U-value (W/m²K) ) × Surface to insulate (m²) × Heating degree days (K·day/year) × 24 / 1000

Indicative result = Reduction in heat loss × Useful heat cost (€/thermal kWh)

Simple payback = Installed investment (€) / Indicative result

What to check

Only transmission losses through the selected surface: excludes thermal bridges, ventilation, moisture and cooling. Use local degree days and useful-heat cost per kWh.
